Naples, FL 34120Audubon EagleWatch, one of Audubon’s premier citizen science programs deploys boots on the ground and eyes in the field to monitor and protect Florida’s eagles. With over 1,400 nesting pairs in our state, this team of volunteers spans 27 counties monitoring more than 350 nests.
Audubon EagleWatchers collect important data on nesting eagles in Florida including productivity, active nest locations and possible disturbances or threats to nesting activities. The program engages volunteers and individuals to help protect our nation’s symbol.
More information including an application for EagleWatch volunteers, can be found on the Audubon Florida website. Please contact Shawnlei Breeding (contact info below) if interested in this project. Volunteering in this capacity will be a positive connection to our state Audubon group and provide meaningful bird information for our own county and community.
